Inactive Duty
There are two kinds of duty: active and inactive. Your Commanding Officer determines your status.
Active Duty
You are expected to serve all day, every day. You will march, make and break camp, and keep watches. You will participate in battles.
Inactive Duty
There is no active task. Duties are limited, though camps must be maintained. In some cases, some units will be allowed close-detached leave, in rotation. You are expected to be able to muster promptly.
In Inactive Duty, your pay is reduced to half. The purpose of Inactive Duty is to reduce costs when there is not enough paying work for all units. This limits cyclical employment, allowing the company to maintain its numbers.
Spoils and Salvage
As a rule, spoils and salvage are to be split evenly among all members of each unit that participated in a battle.
